Expand and upgrade the Special Needs Dental Clinic at UWI, St. Augustine, which would improve access to specialized dental care for underserved patients. This is an ongoing project which requires annual working capital funding for the upkeep of modern equipment and delivery of subsidized treatment to patients with complex healthcare needs.

The Special Needs Dental Clinic delivers significant value and impact by addressing a critical gap in access to oral healthcare for individuals with complex needs across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean. As the only university-based facility in the region dedicated exclusively to this population, it provides essential, often subsidised care to patients such as those with autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome and other special needs patients who would otherwise face substantial barri... ers to treatment. Beyond direct service delivery, the clinic plays a strategic role in strengthening the healthcare system by training future dentists in Special Needs Dentistry, ensuring long-term capacity to care for vulnerable groups. Collectively, the clinic improves health outcomes, enhances quality of life, and restores dignity for underserved groups, while contributing to a more inclusive and responsive healthcare landscape.
